Grand Rapids offers a well maintained stock of apartments, single family homes and home sites in compact traditional neighborhoods, suburban and large lot rural residential settings.

The City of Grand Rapids supports the expansion of housing opportunities for our local workforce. Recent examples of this commitment include the development of three housing projects: The Pillars of Grand Rapids project (110 units) will provide additional indpendent and assisted living options for senior citizens. The Aurora Heights project (56 units) and the 48-unit apartment building being developed at the intersection of 21st Street SE & 7th Avenue E. willl provide additional market rate and income based housing options. 

The Grand Rapids Economic Development Authority (GREDA) is offering for sale housing sites in their newly developed plat of Great River Acres, next to the new Rapids West Elementary School and the Mississippi Great River Acres Development-signRiver. Great River Acres consists of one 15-acre multi-family development site and fifteen single-family residential lots.  All lots are graded, have city sanitary sewer and water services extended to each, as well as, private natural gas, and fiber optic communication infrastructure. Great River Acres offers residents the convenience of quick access to shopping and entertainment in town as well as adjacent access to biking/walking trails and the Grand Rapids medical campus and close proximity to the Pokegama Golf Course.  GREDA is offering these sites to individual buyers and developers. Itasca County is blessed with over 1,000 of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes. Within the city limits of Grand Rapids, premier lakefront living opportunities on Pokegama, Hale, Crystal, McKinney and Horseshoe Lakes are plentiful and still comparatively affordable. Within a short commute, the opportunities for rural and lakeshore living expand exponentially.
